What is the difference between Private and Semi-private or Group?
In a private lesson, the instructor teaches only one single student; If you wish to ride with others in the same lesson, you may request a semi-private (two students) or a group (three or more students).
We have school horses and ponies of all sizes suitable for all levels.

What should I wear for my lesson?
For your safety, we require:

- Riding breeches or close-fitting long pants (i.e. no shorts or baggy pants), preferably made of stretchy material such as Lycra or Spandex.
- A shoe with a small heel, or paddock boot.
- You may wear your bike helmet for the first few lessons.
- We will give you information on where to get a regular riding helmet and boots at your first lesson.
- Gloves and half-chaps (if you do not wear tall boots) to minimize chafing and blisters.

What if it the weather is bad on the day of my scheduled lesson?
If you have scheduled a lesson with us, and we determine that the weather on your lesson day is hazardous for riding or driving, we will contact you to arrange a make-up session.

How do I cancel a lesson?
Please notify us 24 hours in advance if you cannot make it to your scheduled lesson, so that we can allow others to use your time-slot. Lessons cancelled inside of 24 hours are subject to a $10.00 charge. You will be responsible for the entire lesson fee if you do not call at all.

How long is my lesson?
Lessons are one hour long. Students participate in tacking up and or untacking and grooming, they are mounted with an instructor and ground help if necessary for forty minutes. Students are encouraged to stay a little longer after their lesson to clean their tack.

Is my child old enough to take a riding lesson?
We accept children as young as 4 years of age. We have very small, safe ponies that are just the right size for our youngest riders.

What will you teach?
All lessons will have a focus on safety, enjoyment of the horse, and good horsemanship. Depending on the goals of individual students, lessons may have additional focus on riding technique, or practical applications in horse handling from the ground. Examples of lesson topics are: understanding horse behavior; communicating with your horse identifying parts of the horse and equipment.

Don't worry - ALL of us must start at this point. If you are a beginner, you will start out on the lunge-line, and develop your seat and balance in the saddle. As you progress, focus will gradually shift to more complex exercises, and topics on influencing and controlling the horse off the lunge-line.
